FAIRFIELD MATTERS
Do you have a creative streak? Enjoy drawing or painting?
Want to find a way to express yourself through art?
Would you like to try your hand, relax and have fun with like-minded people?
Fairfield’s new Community Art Group will be a friendly get-together to paint and chat on alternate Monday mornings, led by Val Lawson, a local artist based in Fairfield Gardens. Val is keen for this to be a group for everyone – from those who haven’t painted since they were a child through to experienced artists, and everyone in-between.
Although there will be no formal ‘teaching’, there will be help available for those who want to try something new. A few basic materials will be available to try for those who are new to painting or those who want to get experience different types of paint.
Recent research by Arts Council England reveals the benefits of creativity to relieve stress and express yourself with paint. The art group will give people the opportunity to explore different ways of painting, to try out different paints and to have fun with paint.
At the launch of the new group on Monday 21 June, local Campton artist, Karen Mangold will give a demonstration of acrylic painting. People attending the demo will be encouraged to sign up for the first practical session. That will be the following week on Monday 28 June, and then the group will meet fortnightly.
